Karen Whitney

Better Indiana is proud to endorse Karen Whitney for Indiana House District 28.A lifelong educator, Karen has served in countless leadership capacities at public institutions across Indiana, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. From 1999 to 2000, she worked as the Vice Chancellor of Student Life at IUPUI, cultivating a robust campus life that supported and improved graduation rates. In the years following, she was the 16th President of Clarion University in Pennsylvania.

With over 40 years of experience in public education, Karen has grown increasingly concerned about the supermajority’s repeated attacks on teachers and public schools. Karen knows that all Hoosier children deserve a quality education and that the government has no business telling kids which books they can read. If elected, Karen will work to support early childhood education programs and expand access to higher education.
